Things To Do
Above the beaches, overlooking the whole scenery there is the famous Byzantine Monastery of the Virgin Mary (also known as Theotokos Monastery) which was founded in 1225, while the buildings in their present state date back to the 18th century. Monks are still living here, selling homemade wine and oil as well as religious souvenirs.
For all who enjoy walking, there are many footpaths through olive grooves up to the mountains to Angelokastro, the Byzantine castle from the 13th century, sveral villages and beautiful views. (For more information about walking and trekking: corfutrail.org)
Of course here is also a great variety of water sport actitvities offered, Paleokastritsa has scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, jet-skiing, water-skiing, paragliding, glass-bottom-boat trips and even a "Yellow Submarine" for under sea excursions.
At the main beach there are taxi-boats, offering excursions to caves and several secluded beaches, which are accessible only by sea. It is also possible, to rent a boat for self-driving.
